Overview
The Department of Business Administration and Management (BAM) provides National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes designed to train competent business and management professionals for the public and private sectors. The Department equips students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical orientation necessary for effective decision-making, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
Students are trained in business management, accounting, economics, quantitative techniques, law, marketing, operations, and entrepreneurship. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning, including industrial attachments under the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) and final-year projects, to ensure graduates are industry-ready and self-reliant.
Graduates are prepared to analyze management problems, design solutions, conduct surveys, perform budgeting, oversee operations, and lead teams, positioning them for employment, entrepreneurship, and professional advancement.

History
The Department of Business Administration and Management was established as one of the foundational academic units of the School of Management and Financial Studies at Thomas McGettrick Institute of Technology, Ogoja, in response to Nigeria’s growing demand for skilled managerial and administrative personnel.
Since its inception, the Department has adhered strictly to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Minimum Standards, ensuring that its curriculum, teaching methods, and practical training meet national quality benchmarks. Over the years, the Department has contributed significantly to producing competent middle- and higher-level managers for industries, commerce, government, and non-governmental organizations.
The Department continues to expand its academic offerings and partnerships with industries to maintain relevance, excellence, and employability for its graduates.
Accreditation
The ND and HND programmes in Business Administration and Management are fully designed in compliance with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Minimum Standards.

Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration and Management, classified according to GPA: Distinction (3.50+), Upper Credit (3.00–3.49), Lower Credit (2.50–2.99), and Pass (2.00–2.49).
The Department maintains regular curriculum review and quality assurance processes to sustain NBTE accreditation and industry relevance.
