Programme Overview

The National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering Technology is designed to train skilled technical manpower capable of installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. The programme provides students with a strong foundation in electrical principles, circuits, machines, power systems, electronics, and safety practices. It combines theoretical instruction with hands-on laboratory work, workshops, and the Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), in line with NBTE minimum academic standards, to prepare graduates for employment or further professional training in the electrical and allied industries.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Requirement

The entry requirements for National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology are:

Four credit level passes at senior school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent at not more than TWO sittings. The four subjects must include Mathematics, Physics and any TWO other science subjects. At least a pass in English Language is required.

The National Technician Certificate (NTC) in electrical trade with credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and ONE other subject. Also, a pass in English Language is mandatory.

Four credit passes in an NBTE recognized preliminary ND course offered in a polytechnics or similar post-secondary technical institution. The credit passes must include Mathematics, Physics any TWO science subjects. Candidates must in addition obtain at least a pass in English language.

Graduation Requirements

To be awarded the National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering Technology, a student must:

  • Successfully complete and pass all prescribed courses in ND I and ND II

  • Complete the mandatory SIWES industrial training and submit an approved report

  • Earn the minimum number of credit units as approved by NBTE

  • Attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00

  • Fulfill all institutional, academic, and administrative requirements
