Programme Overview

The National Diploma (ND) in Computer Engineering Technology is designed to produce technically skilled manpower with competence in the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer hardware and related electronic systems. The programme integrates electrical/electronic fundamentals with computer technology, covering areas such as digital electronics, microprocessors, computer architecture, networking basics, and embedded systems. Training is delivered through classroom instruction, laboratory practicals, workshops, and the Supervised Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), in accordance with NBTE minimum academic standards.

Entry Requirements

O’Level Requirement

The entry requirements for National Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology are:

Four credit level passes at senior school certificate examination (SSCE) or its equivalent at not more than TWO sittings. The four subjects must include Mathematics, Physics and any TWO other science subjects. At least a pass in English Language is required.

The National Technician Certificate (NTC) in electrical trade with credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and ONE other subject. Also, a pass in English Language is mandatory.

Four credit passes in an NBTE recognized preliminary ND course offered in a polytechnics or similar post-secondary technical institution.

Graduation Requirements

To be awarded the National Diploma (ND) in Computer Engineering Technology, a student must:

  • Successfully complete and pass all prescribed courses in ND I and ND II

  • Complete the mandatory SIWES industrial training and submit an approved technical report

  • Accumulate the minimum credit units approved by NBTE for the programme

  • Obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00

  • Meet all institutional academic, financial, and administrative requirements
